Welcome to the D’Aniello and Gayle Daniello Building home to the National Veterans Resource Center (NVRC) at Syracuse University, a dynamic hub designed for collaboration, education, and events. Whether you’re planning a meeting, hosting a seminar, or organizing a special event, the NVRC offers a variety of state-of-the-art spaces to suit your needs, including various sized conference rooms, classrooms, and the K.G. Tan Auditorium.

Available Facilities

  • Hourly rate will include the time required for your setup, breakdown and cleanup.
  • Hourly rate does not apply on weekends
  • A walk through will need to be scheduled to discuss the needs of your event. Please email kslantry@syr.edu with some availability for a walk through and in the meantime also fill out the form linked under “Technology Fees” in preparation for your walk through.
  • Rental fees are assessed for events held within the NVRC based on space(s) reserved and length of event. Fee details will be provided upon acceptance of a Room Reservation Form via a Confirmation of Reservation

Just inside the front doors of the NVRC, this magnificent architectural space can be transformed into so many possibilities. The flexibility of this space ensures that it can cater to a wide range of needs, from intimate gatherings to large-scale functions, making it a perfect space for many occasions.

The Parade Ground, positioned fittingly on the top level of the building, is a grand outdoor space featuring an open-air courtyard, lush lawn, benches, and seasonal flower boxes throughout. The space is utilized for ceremonies and honors such as the commissioning of ROTC graduates as officers in the United States Army and Air Force, as well as receptions and special events serving the campus community.

This room is named in honor of WWII veteran Arthur “Art” Harrison, in memory of his service in the 44th Infantry Division. This room will be used for community gatherings and meetings. Ideal for small groups, this room comfortably seats up to six people with wall-mounted TV and whiteboard. The space offers a professional and functional setting for small group discussions.

The NVRC 018 Classroom is a versatile space designed to accommodate up to 50 people, making it ideal for workshops, lectures, and training sessions. Equipped with modern technology and comfortable seating, this classroom provides a professional environment for effective learning and engagement.

The main conference room at the NVRC serves as a meeting and event space for campus and community groups. Offering flexible layouts, accommodating as many as 50, the conference room is equipped with the latest technology and features one of the best views on campus including the JMA Wireless Dome, Crouse College, and the Hall of Languages. This space has been utilized for roundtable discussions with highly esteemed guests such as the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, among many others.

Technology Fees

Technology fees are charged in addition to the daily room rental rates. Technology for event spaces must be supported either directly by the event sponsor or ITS Learning Environments and Media Production (LEMP) and are subject to their policies. Specialized staff arrangements will be charged to the sponsor.

LEMP technical support for Tan Auditorium follows a fee-based structure. Fees vary based on the complexity and type of event being held as well as the amount of equipment that needs to be supported. LEMP reserves the right to determine the appropriate number of operators for a given event.

Recommended transcriptionists:

Please note that LEMP only provides technical support of the A/V equipment in the room. LEMP will coordinate with other parties involved in the event but does not reserve other services (such as security, ushering, ticketing, outside vendors, etc.). If your event is hybrid, LEMP will provide an A/V feed to your streaming service (i.e., Zoom, YouTube). LEMP does not manage nor monitor the live stream.

Event, house and live stream/webinar management are always the responsibility of the requestor.

LEMP Technology Fees/Rates (effective as of Aug. 28, 2023)

  • Staff Charges: $60 per hour per staff
  • Student Support Charges: $25 per hour per student

Note, this includes gap time on weekdays (after University business hours) and setup/strike time. There is a four-hour minimum on weekends.

Average event charges in FY 2022 were $760 in the K.G. Tan Auditorium. Note, this varies based on number of days/hours, setup time, prep time, etc. Please indicate in the LEMP Events and Media Product request form if you would like a formal estimate from LEMP.

Food and Beverages

Food and beverages for all events must be provided through Campus Catering, contacted at (315) 443-3606. All costs for catering must be paid by the event sponsor. Please visit the link for your catering needs. foodservices.syr.edu/catering/.

Catering no longer orders tables, chairs, pipe and drape, etc. for events. You will need to contact Century yourself at (315) 452-1240 | Contact person: Jackie. Catering will still help you with what you need for your event, however, you are responsible for placing the order and arranging delivery and pickup times. You will also need to have a diagram for Century to use for setup when placing your order.

*Please do not forget to schedule with facilities to remove the furniture in existing space (if needed)  prior to your delivery from Century. 


Maintenance and Clean-Up

All reserved rooms must be returned to the pre-event condition upon the conclusion of the event, or before 8:00am the following day, whichever comes first. If a room is not returned to its pre-event condition, the event sponsor will be charged by the NVRC for fees/services incurred.

Event sponsors are responsible for paymeny of custodial services to perform set-up and breakdown of furniture and appropriate clean-up.

Arranges for major setup of breakdown of space must  be made at least 2 weeks in advance of your event. Please contact facilities@syr.edu


Security

If your event is open to the public and more than 50 guests are expected, or if your events is being held outside the normal NVRC business hours, the sponsor is responsible for hiring a uniformed SU Public Safety Officer.

You will receive an email with the name and contact information of the officer that will be present during the entire event to restrict access to authorized attendees. After receiving your confirmation, please forward that email and your request for the doors (including unlock and lock times) to  kslantry@syr.edu. Please make sure the requested times match the security officer’s hours. This request must be confirmed at least 3 days prior to the event.

Parking

University Ave Garage is the closest visitor parking garage and is next to the NVRC. To arrange special parking, please contact parking at parkmail@syr.edu or (315) 443-4652.

Insurance Policy

Rental groups are required to provide the University with a comprehensive liability insurance policy with Syracuse University named as the insured in the following instances:

  • All facility rentals by groups other than Syracuse University students and departments.
  • Syracuse University student group or department events with participants other than Syracuse University students, faculty/staff.

The insurance policy needs to be for one million dollars of coverage. Affordable short term liability insurance policies for events can be obtained utilizing the Contract and Vendor Insurance Requirements webpage.

Proof of insurance is required at least two weeks prior to the event date.


Cancellation Policy

The sponsor of the reservation shall use the facility at the scheduled time or properly cancel the reservation. The following cancellation policies apply to all groups, including student organizations.

  • All cancellations need to be made in writing at least 14 days prior to the reservation date to avoid penalties.
  • No refunds will be given for reservations that are not cancelled properly.
  • Groups will be responsible for paying agreed-upon rental fees.
  • Failure to properly cancel reservations will affect future reservation privileges.

Payment Policy

  • Rental fees are assessed for events held within the NVRC based on space(s) reserved and length of event. Fee details will be provided via written Confirmation upon acceptance of a Room Reservation Form
  • Invoices for events or facility rentals hosted in the NVRC must be paid within 30 days of the invoice date.
  • Groups with outstanding payments over 30 days will be considered past due. Groups with past due payments will not be allowed to schedule events or reserve spaces in Recreation facilities until the invoice is paid.
  • After six months, unpaid invoices will be sent to University Collections. Groups with past due payments that have been sent to University Collections will be unable to schedule events or reserve spaces in Recreation facilities until the invoice is paid.
