Hometown Hero: Rolondo “Jun” Mari

United States Army Sergeant First Class Rolando “Jun” Mari was born in the Philippines and calls Bel Air, Maryland home. Sergeant First Class Mari entered the U.S. Army in 2011, completing Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, SC, and became a 36 Bravo, Financial Management Technician.

He recently served as the Budget Manager for the 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, NY, where he managed over $100 million during their deployment in Romania in 2023. Before his Fort Drum assignment, Sergeant First Class Mari served as the Budget Analyst for the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive Command in Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.

Sergeant First Class Mari has served fourteen years on active duty, including deployments in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and recently to Romania in support of Ukraine. He is a recipient of two Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, and five Army Achievement Medals.

He is a Do-It-Yourselfer and has made several home improvements and maintains their family vehicles. He also used to play basketball, table tennis, lawn tennis, and bowling.

Sergeant First Class Mari has been married to Marichel Prudente since 2003 and is a father to Elijah, who is 20 years old and pursuing his degree in Computer Science at Towson University, Maryland. Today, Sergeant First Class Mari is a student in the prestigious Defense Comptrollership program at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
