OVS Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of Veteran Success is to support the student veteran experience on campus by assisting with their veteran educational benefits and the work-study program. The office provides an opportunity for student veterans to build community in conjunction with the Student Veterans Organization and providing an exclusive veterans lounge
The Office of Veteran Success (formerly the Veterans Resource Center) housed under the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs at Syracuse University, opened in July 2009 to assist prospective and current students with U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs and University business matters.
Their role is to administer the students’ Veterans Educational Benefits, the Veterans Work Study program, the Veterans Lounge, and support the Student Veterans Organization. While processing Veterans Educational benefits is a serious responsibility, the OVS has structured the process so it is routine for students. Working with the OVS is similar to having internet installed. There are a few one-time steps to do in the beginning. After that, instead of a monthly bill to pay, students submit a form to the OVS once a semester. The goal of the OVS is for students to keep their focus on their studies while OVS manages the paperwork with the VA. Our office and the Veterans Lounge are located on the ground floor of the National Veteran Resource Center at 101 Waverly Ave.
