United States Army Veteran, Syracuse University alum and employee, David Ladd, was born in Los Angeles, California, raised in Hazel Park, Michigan, and currently lives in Buffalo, New York. After David graduated from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1986 as an 11 Bravo, Infantryman, and was stationed with 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment – The Rakassans – in Fort Clayton, Panama. Davide conducted regional missions in Central and South America, including Bolivia to support one of the earliest missions to fight the war on drugs.
David continued to serve in the U.S. Army until 2006, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant prior to separating from military service. David’s proudest military moment was graduating from the Infantry School, becoming an 11 Bravo, and being a part of the “Queen of Battle.”
David attended Syracuse University’s iSchool, earning a Master of Science degree in in applied data science in 2022. In addition to his master’s degree, David earned Certificates of Advanced Study in Information Security and Information Management. While a student, David was hired as a part time coordinator by the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs’ Veteran Career Services through the Veteran Administration’s “Work-Study” program.
After graduating from Syracuse University, David was hired by Syracuse University’s Information Technology Services Department and currently serves as a Database Administrator for the Enterprise Application Support team. In addition to his full-time duties for the ITS department, David continues to provide integral support to the Veteran Career Services team with student facing applications, communication tools, and Student-Veteran related analytics. David is the proud father of three children: Alan, Justin, and Katelyn.
