Syracuse University’s Living Library is an event that encourages people from different backgrounds to talk with and learn from each other in a safe and supportive environment. Instead of reading a book the way you would in a traditional library, “reading” in the Living Library consists of listening and asking questions.
During the event, attendees can engage in 20-minute one-on-one or small group conversations with volunteers from across the SU community—including faculty, staff, and students.
On November 15, several “living books” will be available at the NVRC. Veterans, military family members, ROTC cadets and OVMA/IVMF staff will share their stories and create a positive space for dialogues on challenges veterans and their families deal with, to break down stereotypes about the military, and to celebrate diversity within the SU community.
