At the annual Chancellor Pass in Review Ceremony, ROTC cadets who have distinguished themselves through superior performance in academics, ROTC, and extracurricular activities were recognized with awards sponsored by civilian and military organizations. Syracuse University’s ROTC is the longest consecutively running program of its kind in the United States.

General Edward C. Meyer Leadership Award

Presented to the outstanding Army ROTC MS IV cadet who demonstrates extraordinary officer potential and leadership qualities. The award consists of an Army Officer’s engraved saber and certificate.

Professor John A. Meyer Leadership Award

Presented to the outstanding Air Force ROTC AS 400 cadet whose exemplary performance and inspirational leadership mark him or her as an individual with out-standing potential for an illustrious career in service to his or her country. The award consists of an Air Force Officer’s engraved sword and certificate.

Harvey S. Smith Memorial Award

Presented to an outstanding AS 400/MSIV cadet, who must be in the upper 10 percent of their class and upper 25 percent of the school department class ranking. Recipient must also have demonstrated outstanding leadership, discipline, character, and citizenship. The award consists of a bronze eagle casting and a certificate.

Commitment to Service Award

Awarded to a Cadet who is either a veteran or a dependent of a military veteran. Dottle Family ROTC Scholarship

Awarded each year to deserving future leaders in the Syracuse University Army and Air Force ROTC programs in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to service. General George C. Marshall ROTC Award

Provided by the George C. Marshall Research Foundation, this award is presented to an outstanding Army cadet senior who has completed National Advanced Leadership camp or equivalent. A cadet who demonstrates leadership and scholastic qualities that epitomized the career of General Marshall. The award consists of a certificate and attendance at the National Security Conference sponsored by General George C. Marshall Foundation.
