Soon after graduation, Anthony Punaro entered the United States Marine Corps; his first deployment was to Vietnam, where he served as an Infantry Platoon Commander. While in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Maj. Gen. James E. Freeze
