The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs (OVMA) serves as Syracuse University’s single point of entry for all veteran and military-related programs and initiatives. It collaborates and coordinates with all stakeholders to best serve veterans, military-connected students, and military family members who are students or employees at Syracuse University.

Clear Path for Veterans

Recognizing the responsibility of communities to help those who serve, Clear Path for Veterans empowers service members, Veterans, and their families through supportive programs and services in a safe, respectful environment.

Counseling and Wellness

Syracuse University students experiencing a mental health crisis, seeking support for sexual assault or relationship violence, or needing urgent medical consultation can receive free confidential services 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 315.443.8000. Please note, routine consultations should hold until the next business day.

Disability Services

Student Assistance

Student Assistance case managers provide comprehensive prevention, outreach and follow up services to identify and assist students in need of support in managing any aspects of their well-being. Case Managers work collaboratively with both off and on-campus resources to proactively identify and serve students in need. Student Assistance takes a strength-based approach and strives to create safer spaces for all in which resilience, self-advocacy, and personal and academic success are achieved.

VA Medical Center

The Syracuse VA Medical Center, part of VA Health Care Upstate New York opened its doors on June 14, 1953. The Medical Center utilizes state-of-the-art technology to provide a full range of patient care services, education and research.

Vet Center Program

We are the people in VA who welcome home war veterans with honor by providing quality readjustment counseling in a caring manner. Vet Centers understand and appreciate Veterans' war experiences while assisting them and their family members toward a successful post-war adjustment in or near their community.

Encouraging, promoting, and supporting veterans to be successful in their educational and career endeavors.
The Wohl Family Veterans Legal Clinic provides representation to veterans and their families who are seeking benefits from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) or upgrading a military discharge through the various military branches.

Writing Group

The Syracuse Veterans' Writing group is open to all veterans and their supporters  The focus of our group is on writing nonfiction accounts or "true stories" of life in and out of the military. Veterans of all ages, branches of the military, and conflicts are welcome. You need not have any prior experience with writing, just a desire to write your stories and share them with others.
