United States Army CPT Luis “Lu” Weierbach hails from Hoosick Falls, New York. After winning a New York State high school wrestling title, Lu was recruited to wrestle at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2014.
In 2018, Lu graduated from West Point and was commissioned on active duty as an infantry officer. He attended Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course and airborne school. His first duty assignment was with the famed 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment (Cacti) in the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. While in Hawaii, Lu served as an infantry platoon leader, company executive officer, and battalion logistics officer with deployments to Thailand and Korea.
Later, Lu applied for and was awarded the Army’s Funded Legal Education Program scholarship and chose Syracuse University to attend Law School. In the fall of 2022, he married his best friend and the love of his life Dana O’Malley.
Today, Captain Lu Weierbach is a second-year law student at Syracuse University’s School of Law. He was also selected by the Pat Tillman Foundation as Syracuse University’s 2023 Tillman Scholar.
