A Legacy That Shaped Veterans’ Education: Syracuse University’s Chancellor William Tolley  was instrumental in advocating for drafting and securing the original G.I. Bill in 1944. That commitment remains foundational to our University today.

One Point of Contact: The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs (OVMA)  is a single point of entry and support for all veteran and military-connected programs and services, on campus or online.

Maximized Credit for Military Service and Transfer Credit: Syracuse University accepts up to 90 credits of transfer and credit equivalency (Technical Training, PME, etc.) for online and on campus undergraduate degrees. 

Dedicated Benefits Support: The Office of Veteran Success (OVS) manages VA benefits certification so you can focus on your studies, wherever you are learning.

Career Dedicated Career Services: Veteran Career Services provides career preparation, employer connections, mentorship, and internships, on campus and online.

National Veterans Resource Center: The NVRC is the first facility of its kind, home to the OVMA, Army & Air Force ROTC, and the Student Veteran Organization (SVO).

Syracuse University has one of the largest and most active veteran communities among private universities. Whether on campus or studying remotely, you have access to peer support, mentorship, and resources designed specifically for veteran and military-connected students.

Student Veteran Organization: Peer support, resources, and advocacy for veterans, military-connected students, and military family members. Dedicated veteran’s lounge and study space. Online students can participate through virtual events.

OVMA Connect Mentorship: A network of Syracuse alumni and professionals available to all students regardless of location.

OVMA Resiliency Program(ORP): ORP aims to provide comprehensive support to address academic, financial, physical, and social needs, with a special emphasis on personal and mental well-being.

D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF): The IVMF is higher education’s first interdisciplinary academic institute, singularly focused on advancing the post-service lives of the nation’s military veterans and their families to serve those who have served.
