Every military-connected student arrives at Syracuse with a different experience, different goals and different responsibilities.

Azimuth Check is a personalized undergraduate only student success coaching initiative that connects transitioning veteran and military-connected students with dedicated Pathfinder Coaches through the OVMA Resiliency Program (ORP). Through consistent, one-on-one support, coaches help students navigate their Syracuse experience, work toward their goals and stay connected to the people and resources available to them.

Suzanne joined InsideTrack in October of 2010, holding a BA in Education and an MA in Education with a focus on literacy. Prior to joining InsideTrack, Suzanne spent seven years in the elementary/secondary education field, as both an educator and Director of Education at learning centers in Indiana and Oregon. During her ~16 year tenure at InsideTrack she has supported a large variety of partner institutions, providing coaching to both prospective students and enrolled learners, including career coaching. Suzanne believes that coaching creates the space for individuals to identify, and take ownership of, the connection between their current actions and their goals.

She is passionate about supporting students in taking ownership of their educational experiences and advocating for themselves.

Outside of work, Suzanne enjoys spending quality time with her husband and son (and their senior bullmastiff/bulldog) – especially if it involves being in nature! She is an avid reader and finds peace and joy in her garden.

About Azimuth Check

Azimuth Check, developed in partnership with InsideTrack, is a personalized transition coaching initiative within ORP that connects Syracuse University undergraduate student veterans and military-connected students with dedicated Pathfinder Coaches

The name “Azimuth Check” comes from a familiar military practice. An azimuth provides direction, while an azimuth check ensures that an individual or team remains oriented toward its intended destination. The new program applies that same principle to higher education by helping students clarify their goals, navigate challenges and remain on course toward degree completion.

Goals evolve. Priorities shift. Challenges and opportunities emerge.

You set the destination. Your Pathfinder Coach helps you stay on course.
