Captain Desiree C. (Losier) Wineland received her Army ROTC commission from Syracuse University in 1987. Her assignments include serving as a Supply Officer and Flight Platoon Leader in C Co, 1-501″ Avation, Camp Page, Korea; Executive Officer and Maintenance Platoon Leader in the 124th MSB followed by the Direct Support Unit (DSU) OIC and then Executive Officer of F Co, 705th MSB, then as the DISCOM rear commander during the 2nd Armor Division’s BRAC move from Fort Polk, LA to Fort Hood, TX. Captain Wineland then served 24 months as the first female to command an AH-64 Attack helicopter unit as commander of D Co., 4-501 Attack Battalion, forward deployed in South Korea. She was selected to represent the command as a nominee for the Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award. Captain Wineland currently serves as a helicopter maintenance test pilot (MTP) and government flight representative (GFR) with the Defense Contract Management Command (DCMC).
Captain Wineland is a graduate of the Aviation Officer Basic Course, the Airborne and Air Assault Schools, the Initial Rotary Wing Course-TH55 and UH-60 multi-track, the Joint Space Fundamentals Course, the Army Safety Course, the Battle Staff Course, the Aviation Officer Advance Course, the Air Traffic Control Course, the UH- 60, AH-64 and the UH-1 Maintenance Test Pilot Courses, the Combined Arms Service Staff School, the Publics Affairs Officer Course, the Government Flight Representative Certification Course and has completed her Master’s Degree in International Relations from St. Mary’s University.
Captain Desiree Wineland is married to Captain David D. Wineland Sr., they have two sons, Calvin Jr. and Austin “AJ”.
