Captain David W. Stebbins is the Operations Flight Commander and the Recruiting Flight Commander, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 535 at Syracuse University. In this capacity, Captain Stebbins recruits, trains, motivates, and counsels highly-qualified young men and women as prospective Air Force officers. Captain Stebbins oversees the 70-member cadet corps and instructs the Leadership Laboratory course. He is responsible for all unit recruiting efforts and manages the Detachment recruiting budget. Through direct contact, Captain Stebbins promotes Air Force career opportunities to university and high school students, faculty, parents, and administrators. Additionally, he instructs the freshmen and sophomore aerospace studies courses.
Capt Stebbins hails from Arab, AL. He enlisted in the Air Force as an Aerospace Propulsion Maintenance Apprentice in 2001 at Lackland Air Force Base. He then cross-trained into the Air Force Recruiting Service as an enlisted accessions recruiter in 2006. Later, he earned his commission in 2012 from Officer Training School. He is a core Acquisitions Manager where he is responsible for contract management and development, program management and logistical support.
