Harry E. Goetzmann was born in Buffalo, New York on 10 June 1937. He graduated from the School of Management at Syracuse University in June and was commissioned as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the Stalwart Battalion. He reported on active duty in 1959 and served as the Fire Direct Officer of a towed 105mm-Howitzer Battery. 1LT Goetzmann attended Field Artillery OBC and Airborne School in June 1960. From July 1960 to March, he attended both the Primary Helicopter and Advanced Rotary Wing School 1LT Goetzmann served as a Service Platoon Leader and Executive Officer Troop, 17th Cavalry on the HU-1’s until September 1962.
Mr. Goetzmann then went to work for IBM in Syracuse, where he worked in numerous sales positions, culminating as the Assistant District Manager. He founded Continental Information System Corp (CIS) in Syracuse. CIS grew from one man in 1968, to 1,200 employees in 1988, with subsidiaries throughout Europe, Canada, Mexico, Japan & Hong Kong. Mr. Goetzmann served as the Chairman, President and CEO for CIS.
Mr. Goetzmann then founded Schomann International Corporation (SIC) in 1 SIC is the owner of MegaCom Ltd. – located in the Republic of Georgia, it provides country wide cellular telephone service to the Georgian citizens.
Mr. Goetzmann has been awarded the Army Aviation Badge and Airborne wings. His civic and professional involvements have included service as a trustee for Cazenovia College, a Director of Chase Lincoln First Bank, the Citizens Foundation, and the Salvation Army, where he was the recipient of the “Others” award. He has served as Chairman of the Computer Dealers and Lessors Association, the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Syracuse Services Corporation and currently serves on the School of Management Advisory Council at Syracuse University, where he has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 1987.
Mr. Goetzmann currently resides in Skaneateles, New York with his wife Sylvi. They have five children Craig, Daniel, Eric, Harry III, and Darlene.
