United States Army Captain (Promotable) Jay Knight hails from Huntsville, Alabama. He completed his bachelor’s degree in 2000 at the University of Alabama – Birmingham and enlisted into the United States Army in 2005 as an 11 Bravo – Infantryman.
Jay’s first duty assignment was as a paratrooper in Able Company, 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Fort Richardson, Alaska. In 2006, he deployed to Fallujah (say: Fa-lou-jah), Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and then completed Officer Candidate School in 2010 gaining a commission as a Finance Officer.
As an officer, Captain Knight served in the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia and deployed to Afghanistan. Later, he served in Washington, D.C. and commanded the 125th Financial Management Support Unit in Hawaii. Jay recently returned from his third overseas deployment in March at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.
Today, Captain Knight is a student in the prestigious Defense Comptrollership Program pursuing his MBA at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
