Scholarships

AFROTC Scholarship awards are always merit-based, they are not awarded based on financial need. Cadets pursuing any academic majors are eligible – not just technical majors. You do not need to receive a scholarship to be a cadet. Cadets can only receive one type of AFROTC scholarship, but that does not preclude them from any scholarships, grants, etc. from outside sources.

Type 1 scholarships will be offered to (relative to the pool) extremely well qualified candidates and tied to critical degree requirements and uncapped. This type of scholarship covers full tuition and fees. Type 2 Scholarships will be for other than critical degree candidates and will cap at $9K per semester. Both types of scholarships include a book stipend, and a monthly stipend during the school year

If you don’t earn an HSSP, you are still eligible to join the program and are still eligible to compete for the In-College Scholarship Program (ICSP) as a returning AS200 (sophomore) cadet. While a full tuition scholarship can be earned, the more commonly earned scholarship is a two or three-year scholarship of up to $18,000 per year (up to $9,000 per semester) which also comes with the book stipend and monthly stipend during the academic year

The Charles McGee Leadership Award is awarded to all cadets successfully returning from Field Training who have not received a scholarship but meet all eligibility criteria. Those cadets receive a scholarship of up to $18,000 per year (up to $9,000 per semester) which also comes with the book stipend and monthly stipend during the academic year for their final two years of college.
