“Making a positive impact in the lives of others, especially Veterans and marginalized communities in my hometown, motivates me to continue serving, in and out of the courtroom.”
Anthony J. Ruscitto, grew up in Syracuse, NY and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at seventeen. He was honorably discharged after five years of active-duty service as a Sergeant of Marines with over 1,000 mishap free hours as a CH-53E Helicopter Crew Chief / Weapons and Tactics Instructor, on two overseas deployments to ten countries and territories.
Continuing his career of public service following the Marines, Anthony has served as an EMT-B in Syracuse University Ambulance, volunteered in local non-profits to engage children in reading and literacy skills, led the Syracuse University Student-Veteran Organization as its president, and most recently worked in civil service with the Onondaga County Veterans Service Agency.
Anthony has sought training and development as a lifelong learner, including earning a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Expanding upon his training in data-driven decision making and collaborative leadership, Anthony is currently pursuing a JD at Syracuse University College of Law. Through work with the Veterans Legal Clinic, instruction on constitutional, criminal, and civil rights law, Anthony is developing the skills necessary to represent veteran clients and marginalized members of the community, in and out of the courtroom.
Following graduation with his JD, Anthony is excited to advocate for Veterans in and out of the courtroom: through criminal cases, VA benefit decision appeals, and adverse discharge upgrades. To address the growing challenges of concentrated poverty in his hometown, Anthony aims to enact reform and expand the resources available to veterans and marginalized families throughout Central New York.
