United States Army Captain Tania Gonzalez was born in Zacatecas, Mexico and calls Monterey, California home. Captain Gonzalez enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 2007 completing basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and the 36B Financial Management Technician course. After four years on active duty at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, she joined the U.S. Army Reserves as a 37F Psychological Operations Sergeant. In 2018, Captain Gonzalez attended U.S. Army Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Fort Benning, Georgia, where she was commissioned as a Finance and Comptroller Officer and later joined the Army’s Active Guard Reserve (AGR) Program.
Throughout her career, Captain Gonzalez has served in the 82nd Airborne Division and deployed to Iraq supporting combat operations during Operations Iraqi Freedom. She also served and the U.S. Army Civil Affairs Psychological Operations Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She served in the 9th Mission Support Command, Honolulu, Hawaii; Army Reserve Aviation Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky, and the 311th Signal Command, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
During her eighteen years of military service, Captain Gonzalez’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (4th award), Army Achievement Medal (4th award), Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (3rd award), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (numeral device 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Parachutist Badge.
She is married to Jean Carlos Gonzalez, a retired U.S. Army service member who served honorably for 22 years. Together, they are proud dog parents to two Shih Tzus, Cash and Saber. In her free time, Captain Gonzalez enjoys hiking and spending time at the beach.
Today, Captain Gonzales is attending the prestigious Defense Comptrollership Program at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, where she will earn a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Administration for the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. After completing this fourteen-month course, Captain Gonzalez will move on to a new assignment as the Senior Program Analyst at the Office of the Chief Army Reserve, Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
